IFD Race For Dan
On December 26th 2005 Dan Nichols, one of our firefighters, died in a tragic car
accident on his way home from his job at the Des Moines Fire Department. Dan left
behind a wonderful wife and 5 children.
Dan started serving the citizens of Indianola in 1999. He was hired on the Des
Moines Fire Department in 2004. Dan was also a paramedic for both departments at
the time of his passing. He also served in the U.S. Marines Corps.
Dan was an avid runner who enjoyed being outdoors. He participated in many
community sports and ran in many races in the metro area. The Indianola Fire
Department will honor Dan's memory this year by holding the third annual IFD Race
For Dan in Indianola, Iowa. The race will be May 17th at 8:00 a.m. This is a website
to provide all of the race day information to assist you in participating.
This year's proceeds will go to Dan's wife Jana. Other sponsors will be helping the
Indianola Fire Department with the race.
